Description: Pair of pressed glass goblets in the Bigler pattern. 6 in. tall [actually a bit taller and slight difference in height] with flared rim. Bright and clear.. No chips, cracks,cloudiness or repairs, some usual base wear as you would expect on 150+ year old glass. Dates from about 1860, possibly earlier. This pair nicely fire polished during the flaring of the rim by hand and have polished pontils. Manufacturing anomalies to be noted: One goblet is slightly wonkey at the flared rim near a bubble [ photo 5 ]. The other goblet a blemish near the polished pontil. Looks as if the grinding wheel had a little slip and area not completely polished [ photo 6 ]. Interesting double polished pontils. Ashburton goblet probably New England Glass Co. by virtue of the patented process made {notice the horizontal ledge at base of bowl}. Bright and clear with no issues whatsoever.
