Tolerance is +/- 0.004" on the length and width, a superior tolerance based on laser cutting. Edges are at perfect right angles, an upgrade from whatever burrs that may exist from sheared pieces that you might use. Laser cutting also means that the metal is not thinned or rolled over due to shearing. You have perfectly square exact width pieces to do your welds on. Care has been taken to ensure that the grain and direction of rolling is parallel to the 4" side. When a 6" groove weld is made with two pieces, this means that the weld will be up to 50% stronger than if the grain were in the other direction. This maximizes the chance of you passing a weld test. Our pieces conform to this standard to mimic actual test conditions. If you want pieces that have no scratches on them, please message us so we can handle and package them to prevent any scratches. Otherwise, there may be scratches consistent with regular handling and transportation.
