As you can see from the screenshot it is €948.09/£800.79 to purchase direct from Ibride with delivery & export tax included, but you are still left liable for VAT, which at 20% would equate to £960.95/€1137.50. Plus I have included 2 retailers operating in the UK who are asking for the same piece, with the original frame, £1149.00 & £1450.00 respectively. Without original frame- I have ordered a new frame which will be delivered to me on 2nd September. It is of a somewhat distressed gold colour and I think it will work well with the 18th/19th century style of the original portrait without be slavish to it and the detailing of it will compliment & not detract from the piece. I have checked and had the frame altered to fit the depth of the portrait and acrylic glazing will be included- I don’t think it will be necessary but you will at least have the option available to you. Owing to the size of this frame i have to organise its collection from the framers as anything over 1 metre is collection only. They do this as they were finding they couldn’t guarantee the survival of the frames delivery within the regular courier network. For us the courier would be white glove and therefore we can book it according to an agreed & convenient time between you, the courier & your respective diaries. I am completely transparent with postage and I propose we would go halves and would reimburse whatever savings there eventually are. Or if more I would first approve with your agreement to any price increase. These companies are very efficient and economical in my experience and often more cost effective than regular couriers.
