Description: 21” Simon & Halbig 540 Marked body in Gorgeous Silk Dress This beautiful girl by Simon & Halbig is sure to turn some heads! She's a lovely 540 model girl, with a lovely bisque head with detailed painting and modeling of facial features. Large brunette glass sleep eyes in original factory setting, and gaze off into the distance, longingly awaiting her new parents! She is dressed in a lovely pink silk quilted dress and matching bonnet. This girl is in great overall condition, so there's no reason to say no! She has a bisque socket head with glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, feathered brown brows, an open mouth with four upper teeth, and a slightly dimpled chin. She stands at 21” on an antique fully jointed wood and composition stamped Handwerck body and wears a soft brown replacent wig. She is adorned silk quilted dress with matching bonnet. Underneath, she wears an antique white cotton full slip with lace trim and a pair of pantaloons with lace trim. On her feet is a pair of rayon socks and oilcloth shoes. MARKS: 540 / Germany / HALBIG / S&H [incised, back of head] Heinrich Handwerck Germany [stamped, side of torso] CONDITION: The bisque head is free of any cracks, chips, hairlines, or restoration, the head is beautifully molded and painted for a classic dolly face. The glass eyes sleep well and are aligned well in the head. The wood and composition body has areas of age wear, but retains much of its original shiny finish as well as its original stamp. The costume is good, and fits her well for an adorable presentation.
