PCGS encapsulation protects and guarantees the near-perfect MS-69 condition of the coin. Only 1794 of the 75,000 minted carry the special 230th Anniversary privy mark. The First Strike designation guarantees this was among the first received by the grading service upon release. Obverse features the legendary flowing hair depiction of Liberty by Robert Scot, surrounded by stars representing the 15 states that had ratified the US Constitution in 1794. Reverse: the depiction of the eagle used on the 1794 dollar, featuring spread wings and surrounded by a laurel wreath. Minted by the U.S. Mint at Philadelphia This modern release from the U.S. Mint pays homage to one of the most historic coins ever produced in the United States, and brings the high quality of modern minting technology to this classic design. This design, created by Robert Scot, the first Chief Engraver of the US Mint, was used for these two years only, before being replaced by the newer draped bust design partway through 1795. From an original mintage of just over 160,000 coins between the two years, only about 10,000 are believed to survived to present, the vast majority of which are dated 1795, and show wear associated with heavy circulation use.
