The design contains in Latin, the motto, "Fiducia Fortis" - "In Confidence Strength," and "1968", the date of the Bank's foundation.Malta’s reference has been chosen because of its links to Europa which date back to 750 B.C when the Phoenicians (from the ancient region along the eastern coast of the Mediterranean) settled on Malta.
