Description: IN BOTH CHINESE AND ENGLISH. THIS IS A VERY CURIOUS BOOK WITH NO PUBLICATION INFORMATION (at least that I can find) AND NO INFORMATION ON THE 15-YEAR OLD CHINESE ARTIST FEATURED IN THIS MONOGRAPH. The only useful clue and information about the artist and the generation of this book is the "Postscript" of this book at the end, in which the father of this artist describes his son's early life in art, and this father's motivation to create this collection of this son's work. The son is Shi Haozheng, and the father is a noted Chinese artist, Shi Liang. The last few listing photos of this listing show this Postscript page. On Chinese Artist Shi Liang from askART: "Shi Liang (??), born 1965 in China, Shandong-Province, paints portraits and nudes in neo-realistic style. His interiors, the walls and floors showing aesthetics well known since Lucian Freud, sparse rooms, studio-atmosphere, corny, smeared stone and clay. This style is already established and has had for long time an influence on the decoration of urban cafés and clubs. Also the humans portraited by Shi Liang reminds one of Freud, yet Shi doesn't come to the same degree of expressionism. His figures are more naturalistic..." The postcript provides this note on Shi Liang's motivation for creating this monograph: "Making a work-collection and holding a show for him at his fifteenth would be the best memorial for the living and learning of his youth life. All these works have reflected his footprint of growing. What embodies in these works are the perception and exploration of a young soul. They record and tell his joy and anguish, and thus become a song and a memory to his life, as well as a starting point of his artistic career." I presume this book was provided at the "show" noted in this quote. It is in NEAR FINE CONDITION, with text in both Chinese and English. Covers are very clean, 136 pages with some pages on introduction, followed by his artwork including oil paintings, sketches, and some clay figures. There are no markings in the book except, THE BOOK IS SIGNED AND DATED ON THE TITLE PAGE. I am presuming this is the signature of the artist. It does not appear to be the signature of Shi Liang - one can find examples of his signature on his artwork that can be found online. CERTAINLY AN INTERESTING AND RARE PRIVATELY PRODUCED MONOGRAPH FOR A YOUNG CHINESE ARTIST. B131
