Description: For sale is, as the title suggests, the very bike used by the Spanish Tour de France team. Well, this specific one wasn't used in the TdF, but Orbea released a limited number of bikes to be sold publicly around that time. I did not get one, but I was able to get the 55cm frame ($3,000!) in 2015 and then build it over the course of three years. The next part I got in 2016 was the Shimano Dura Ace 9070 Di2 Groupset - 11-25 / 34/50 / 172.5mm. (Electronic shifting). In 2017, I got the Shimano Dura Ace Wheels that were standard on that bike - Shimano Dura Ace C35 Carbon Clinchers 11 Speed Wheelset with Vittoria Open Corsa tyres - I wanted exactly what was on the original, but I couldn't find them new, so I got them gently used on eBay (and not at all cheap!). Also in 2017, I got the the Shimano Dura Ace BB86 Bottom Bracket and the Shimano 105 PD-5800 Carbon Road Pedals. In 2018 I finished the build with a Pro Vibe (made by.. you guessed it... Shimano!) UD Carbon Handlebar Round 31.8mm X 42cm and Shimano Pro Vibe Carbon Stem 31.8mm that were both compatible with Di2 wiring, some orange customizations (handlebar tape, bottle cage, platform pedals in case you don't want to use SPD-SL pedals, and I even got orange valve covers for the tires), a Sherlock Anti-theft device (you'll have to activate it with them), a bike mirror, and a custom saddle. This is the only part I'm probably going to keep because it was custom molded to my rear end, and it will not be comfortable to you unless we trade rear ends, and that would not be a good deal for anyone, trust me! So if you buy the bike, I will go next door to REI (yes, I live next door to an REI!) find a decent saddle and put it on before you pick it up. Or you can just pick it up without a saddle and put one on yourself. When all was said and done, this bike cost me about $7000 to put together. The only things that are different on this bike and the full bikes they sold at Orbea are the handlebars, custom orange accents, and the saddle. I rode this bike a few times a year in 2018 and 2019, maybe 100 miles during those two years, and only a few times from 2019-2022 on the Montour trail on the paved portion (about 3 miles each way.) A conservative estimate is that I rode this bike about 150 miles since I finished putting it together. I think I liked looking at it too much to ride it. I have electronic receipts for most components although I can't seem to find the receipt for the frame. I do have some scans I took of the box it came in from Orbea. I have a video disc somewhere that has the owner's manual on it and how many Nm you need to tighten each part to, as well as an e-manual. I'm selling the bike because I'm 52 and I've had 3 surgeries in 6 months (the last one being February 2023) and I can not sit comfortably on that kind of seat anymore. I have 2 recumbents and that's plenty. The custom seat will be a nice memento of the bike. Thank you for looking, and I hope we can give this beautiful piece of machinery a nice new home!
