This “Made in Japan” Strat is an upscale, discontinued model, uncommon outside of its country of origin, featuring a trio of Fender's Custom Shop Texas Special pickups. Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, and this Strat weighs 7lbs 14oz. At the heart of this model is the trio of USA-made Fender Custom Shop Texas Special black bobbin single coils, delivering classic Stratocaster sparkle and cut with additional output and midrange heft. The bridge pickup has a snappy, aggressive snap, the neck pickup is smooth and broad, and the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch offer quintessential hollow Strat quack. This ST62-TX has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
