Produced by the Royal Mint, the Silver Britannia is legal tender in the United Kingdom with a face value of two pounds. Since 1998, nine different designs have appeared on Britannia silver coins. With the Royal Mint's decision to start mass producing 0.999 silver Britannia coins beginning with the 2013 coin, we are coming to the end of an era and the end of the production 0.958 "Britannia" silver. The new mass production of coins, with no annual mintage limit, can only add value to the pre-2013 limited edition bullion coins. Additionally, designs like this one, which were produced only one year, will be especially valuable to those collecting type sets in future years. Mintage limited to 100,000 coins. Coins are handled with gloves and will come in a nice plastic airtite (not the Royal Mint's flimsy plastic packaging).
