At its peak in 2000 the company had $1 billion in sales but a combination of a recession and changing tastes in home decor led to declining sales, with the company finally filing for bankruptcy in 2018. The brand has since been acquired by another company and re-launched. Every Longaberger basket is handcrafted, initialed and dated by the actual basket weaver Longaberger's iconic headquarters in Ohio, built in the shape of a giant basket, still stands. This basket was designed to thank those who hosted a Longaberger show in October 2000 and another in January 2001. The basket contains alternating red and natural weaves, a blue trim strip, pewter-colored tag and star-shaped tack covers.
