Description: A really great issue, with the detective going up the twist, we get a glimpse of how crazy he actually is! Nice crisp condition. AWESOME ARTWORK BY JOHN HICKLENTON, A TRUE ORIGINAL, ONE OF THE BEST, MOST ORIGINAL HORROR ARTISTS, WHO EVER WALKED ON OUR PLANET. WE BADLY MISS YOU JOHN, THE ART THAT YOU LEFT US WITH, IS TRULY STAGGERING. 2000AD PRESENTS CRISIS Forget what you where taught in school, welcome to your real education, take the red pill, have a peek at what is really happening in the world, welcome to Crisis! The politically charged super comic, that is even more relevant now, than when it was first published! I could make links with Crisis, and bring it bang up to date with the shape of the world today! But do know what? As The Beastie Boys, like to say, Check It! I am too angry! So I won't bother! However I am eternally grateful to Pat Mills and the rest of the Crisis team for bringing to my attention, some of the terrible injustices and human right breaches, that are happening all over the world. Crisis has not dated one jot, because these terrible injustices are, mainly, still happening! Pat never told me what to think, he taught me how to think, and the lessons I have learned from this politicaly charged comic, will never be forgotten! For a brief period back in the late eighties, Crisis was the cutting edge of modern day culture. It seemed to be all over the media, silly headlines, like POW! Comic's grow up at last! Where all over the place! Pat Mills, Carlos, and the rest of the team seemed to promote the comic, all over the UK, like a rock band. I remember seeing girls screaming in Belfast to get a glimpse of Pat and get his autograph, it was almost like Beatle mania! Scenes like this never happened before, not for a comic anyway! Crisis was even getting talked about on TV! If you are considering collecting Crisis, keep in mind that the paper quality was terrible! Even when the comics where new, they weren't really mint! However despite this, the content is priceless! The copies that I am selling are probably as good as you can get. I am only selling the very best copies that I have in my collection. As a general rule, I do not not sell comic's that I would not be happy to pick up and read myself. Please keep in mind that Crisis comics may have some imperfections due to paper quality and ease of damage. If I notice any obvious flaws I will point them out for your consideration. If you are a lover of all things perfect and pristine, then collecting 2000AD Presents Crisis might not be your glass of tea! HOWEVER REST ASSURED, ALL THE COPIES I SELL WILL BE CHECKED FOR QUALITY, IF YOU FIND CHEAPER COPIES FOR SALE, CHECK WITH THE BUYER THAT EVERY PAGE IS INTACT. I TRY TO CHECK EVERY PAGE, IF I AM NOT HAPPY, THEN IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOUR COLLECTION ALSO. 2000AD PRESENTS CRISIS THE POLITICAL CHARGED SUPERCOMIC THAT DID NOT WEAR A CAPE. PROBABLY AS CLOSE TO THE TRUTH THAT A UK PUBLICATION EVER GOT. CRISIS WAS THE REAL NEWS IF YOU KNEW HOW TO READ IN-BETWEEN THE LINE'S. I really recommend reading this comic, it's more than a comic really, view it as a cheap education, you will never view the world, the same way again, it really is an eye opener. I really miss the debates that raged on the letters page, Crisis Talk's, it got a bit heated at times, but my goodness! Some good points were made, but unlike today, everyone's view point was valued and welcomed! In particular I really followed the ongoing SKINHEAD debate, I was a punk myself, but I had mate's who where skinheads. The points made where FASCINATING. The folks writing the letters would have only been in their late teens, early twenties, but the articulation and intelligence of the content was staggering. I really remember with fondness, the story that GARTH ENNIS wrote about the posh, rugby playing student who could not hold his poop, any longer, with his face turning red he let it rip on the toilet floor of his private school, absolutely hilarious! I won't spoil it for you but the story then went in the direction, similar to Poe's beating heart. It's absolutely brilliant, I wish Garth would write a bit more real life comedy like this and the HILLARIOUS masterpiece, set in Belfast, A Few Troubles More, this was more comedic than the original source TROUBLED SOULS. On a more serious note, I also remember in Third World War Paul/Finn dropping a dead seal on the reception desk of a private corporation, who caused an oil leak in the ocean. I really laughed when the secretary threw up, and then very calmly said something like, next time that you want to do this, the bosses office is two doors down, to the right! I still find that cover very disturbing, the one with Paul holding the dead seal, I think it was by the mighty GLEN FABRY. If you are a reader of 2000AD then you are already absorbing this type of content, in the weekly prog, it's just disguised better as science fiction, it's more subtlety nuanced. In 2000AD Presents Crisis it was more in your face and obvious. I was talking to a relatively young 2000AD fan recently in my local comic shop, The Angry Cherry and I was a bit shocked and concerned that he had never heard of Crisis. I really feel that it is the political wing of 2000AD and absolutely, totally essential and brilliant. Would you get away with publishing a comic like this today, trying, for example to tell the truth about The Tiananman Square Massacre, do you know what? I really don't think so! A COOL VAULT LISTING
