It conveys the air of a ruminating poet navigating through life seeking to find meaning, while at all times of course maintaining a fastidiousness for fashion & personal deportment to circulate in, as well as ingratiate himself to, a literate high he is seeking to question & perhaps even lampoon. I believe that this sized portrait from Ibride retails brand new in its original frame in the UK for £510.00 RRP. I am having the damage repaired by a friend and i think the new frame actually elevates the portrait. That’s not to take away from the original thin profiled aluminium frame, but I was given an opportunity to present the piece in a different way so I went for it. I hope you’ll agree that the high relief distressed gold frame enhances the piece and certainly doesn’t lessen it. A previous owner had carried out a more than respectable home restoration on the areas of damage you can see in the photographs. This was done with acrylic paints which had made the surface of the piece noticeably uneven in certain light and angles. As a result I removed the said acrylic. I have instead gone over the affected areas with a gold paint. The first picture and video show the piece as it is now with the gold applied. The second picture depicts the artwork prior to the application of gold. I may be biased but I think the gold really works and perfectly neutralises the previously exposed / damaged white areas. The piece comes with an entirely new frame and is of a somewhat distressed gold colour. I think it works very well with the 18th/19th century style of the original portrait, without being slavish to it and the detailing compliments rather than detract from the piece. It ground the gold that I have applied to the previously damaged errors as it is it’s just a highlight completely in-keeping with the gold frame. It is just a highlight being picked up momentarily by the light. I have checked and had the frame altered to fit the depth of the portrait and acrylic glazing is included- I don’t think it will be necessary but you will at least have the option available to you. The courier would be white glove and therefore we can book it according to an agreed & convenient time between you, the courier & your respective diaries. If we use Royal Mail Special Delivery/ParcelForce we can book it for a day that is convenient for you. I think white glove might be best but I’m open to using a service of your preference. I/we can find the best price suitable with insurance & I am completely open when it comes to postage so be assured I’m not ciphering off your money through inflated costs.
