The WW I / WW II Early Merchant Marine Officer's Side Cap / Hat Buttons were used to screw onto the officer's hat to attach the chin strap to the hat. The buttons are made of a blackened brass and measures 5/8 inches in Diameter. On the back there is a threaded post for attaching them to the hat. On the back it is stamped MADE IN ENGLAND. The 2 - WW I / WW II Early Merchant Marine Officer's Side Cap / Hat Buttons are in near new to new condition. (Do to long term storage).
