Description: Offered here is a fine 2 Volume set [Volumes IX and X] from Transactions And Collections Of The American Antiquarian Society, being The Diary of Isaiah Thomas (1805-1828), Edited by Benjamin Thomas Hill, published by The Society (Worcesyer, MA) in 1909, illustrated with a striking frontispiece portrait of Thomas (with a facsimile signature) and several other b/w plates, 6 1/2" x 10"; 414, 381pp. Cloth covers have light wear (mostly to corners/ spine ends), a few pages rough-cut, otherwise very good internally. While many of the entries here could be labelled mundane, the historical significance of Thomas's diaries can not be overstated. Looking at the second example of diary entries, you will see notice of a "free Negro" who had lived in his house for some nine years. NOTE: for those interested, we will be selling over the next several weeks a fine collection of works published by Isaiah Thomas or by his son, Isaiah, Jr.
