Description: 2 SPEAR & JACKSON ANTIQUE SAWS I started collecting saws during the 1980’s to use in my school shop classes. This led to me studying their history and putting together a collection of rarer older hand saws. As I am not getting any younger I thought it best to start selling some of my old tools to a younger generation. I will currently offer some of my English handsaws that I was lucky to find many years ago. Here are two old Spear & Jackson hand saws. Both are 28” saws and date to the 1800’s. One is an older saw from 1850 as matching maker stamp of that time as in Barlow’s book. It has the rounded toe and the missing nib was placed 4-1/2” back from the toe. Handle looks to be replacement and has original hardware reversed with S&J medallion. The second saw probably dates to 1860’s – 70’s. Has warranted Superior medallion so probably replaced. Handle looks original with lambs tongue. Some teeth broken on this 6ppi saw. Both saws not perfectly straight. Metal good condition never cleaned except around the makers stamp some. I have recently been selling many tools from my collection in fine condition to woodworkers who have emailed me with compliments on the quality of the tools and their ready to use condition. I am a retired shop teacher, woodworker, and tool collector for over 25 years. I am a long time active member of many antique tool organizations including EAIA, Mid-West & CRAFTS of NJ. I was President of CRAFTS for over 10 years. I know antique hand tools and use them in my shop every day. I use many pictures as they are worth a thousand words and count on them as part of my description. So look them over for all the little details they reveal. I have been selling antique tools continuously on eBay since 1998 and enjoy the friendship of my buyers.
