Your coin is crafted from two ounces of 99.99% pure silver. Design: An extremely low mintage and compelling art combine to make this one of the most appealing coins to celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation. There’s a timeless quality to Jesse Koreck’s reverse design, which provides a lasting snapshot of Canada Day festivities on Parliament Hill. The view of the Centre Block building helps create a more immersive viewing experience—one gets the sense of being there in person, among the hundreds of thousands of people who have gathered on the lawn to take part in this joyous occasion. The outpouring of national pride is evident in the revellers’ red-and-white clothing and the prominent placement of Canadian flags. However, the crowd’s attention is focused on the sky overhead, where the aerobatic Snowbirds Demonstration Team performs a thrilling fly-past above the iconic Peace Tower. The use of a full colour application adds a rich vibrancy to the daytime scene; but the strategic integration and layering of photoluminescent technologies allow for a surprising transition to night. When viewed under a black light, a day of celebrating has reached its spectacular climax with an unforgettable pyrotechnic display! Black light and glow-in-the-dark technology re-create the elaborate firework finale above Parliament Hill, where the dazzling array of colours and patterns faintly illuminate the buildings and the crowd below. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. Packaging: Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a graphic beauty box. Fine Silver Hologram Coin - A Story of the Northern Lights: Howling Wolf - Mintage: 8500 (2014):As a collector, I found the hologram effects to be a bit lacking. I was expecting more from such a pricey coin. Other than that, the overall representation of the howling wolf and the Northern Lights is very eye-catching.Was this a gift?:No Bottom LineYes, I would recommend this to a friendWas this review helpful? Fine Silver Hologram Coin - A Story of the Northern Lights: Howling Wolf - Mintage: 8500 (2014):The holographic effect is stunning. I was not sure, if I should buy it, but now I am glad I did. Just in time as it turns out. 98% are sold. Got number 3500-something. I cannot understand why some complain about the poor holographic effect. My coin is flamboyant under natural and artificial light. Maybe there is some spread during minting. The value and quality of this coin is (to me) much higher than that of any colored one. I hope that it will not tarnish for a long time, because I fear that the oxidation will destroy the effect. The only con: poor artistic image of the wolf. The front legs seem out of proportion (too thin). Was this a gift?:No Bottom LineYes, I would recommend this to a friend (1 of 1 customers found this review helpful)Was this review helpful? Fine Silver Hologram Coin - A Story of the Northern Lights: Howling Wolf - Mintage: 8500 (2014):After having read other comments about not being able to see the colors & knowing that it's probably just how it was being held I took a chance and bought this coin.Turns out I was correct. It DOES matter what type of light you use but under my living room light which have a yellow glow I only need to turn the coin a certain way for the colors to show. It's not in-your-face color as some may have liked it to be. It's more subtle but you can see various colors which come alive as you turn the coin. Love the wolf/northern lights theme. Comes in plastic encasement presented in a a nice little hinged box with cert.of authenticity. Possibly will give this as gift to a nephew. Was this a gift?:No Bottom LineYes, I would recommend this to a friend (1 of 1 customers found this review helpful)Was this review helpful?
