Description: 2012-2024 $2 Collection 66 UNCIRCULATED - Red Poppy, Coronation,Remembrance. NO 2017 Mars coin in this collection. In Australia the coloured $2 coins have only been in existence for at most 12 years. Discerning buyers are therefore going to expect to purchase these coins in pristine original RAM packaging. In such a young market this situation is likely to persist for many decades to come. It also reduces the likelihood of substandard coins entering your valuable collection. This collection of 66 uncirculated $2 coins consists of the very popular YellowMonkee collector's folder which houses all 60 of the coloured and commemorative $2 coins released into general circulation by the Royal Australian Mint (RAM) or by Woolworths up until 2023. Also included with this collection are the 2024 NRL and NRLW coins (released through Anaconda stores), the 2024 Australian Olympic Team $2 folder and the 2024 Paralympic $2 coin folder. This is therefore a complete set of all 66 coloured $2 coins which have been released into our change. There is one UNCIRCULATED 2012 Red Poppy coin with this set. I have placed this in a lucite Lighthouse Quadrum capsule with black foam cushioning. These are the best capsules on the market. In assembling this 66-coin collection much care has been taken to ensure that you receive thebestquality coins, and that your collection will appreciate at top market rate. To accomplish this original RAM release folders have been sourced whenever they exist. Coins released in folders are generally of the highest quality. Re-sale of coins in official folders also commands a higher price, and are easier to sell, than loose coins. An added advantage of this approach is that you do not have to sell your entire collection in order to unlock some of its investment potential. Owners of this collection may opt to sell one or two pieces should the need arise. There are 13 authentic RAM folders included in this collection. Towards the end of 2023 there were three coin releases, through the tills at Woolworths, where no RAM folders were produced. Likewise no RAM rolls were available for these coins. The best available in these circumstances are guaranteed fingerprint-free versions from unopened RAM bags. (This applies to the Socceroos, Vegemite and Matildas coins) The remaining coins in this collection were sourced from RAM certified collector's rolls. (NOT bagswhere coins are unavoidably jostled and surface scratched. This is true even of the small 5 coin sample or sachet bags. They are still bags!) Generally speaking, these are the Anzac Day and Remembrance Day coins from 2012 onwards. If you would like these coins presented to you in perspex holders, rather than being placed directly in the collector's folder, please do ask. You will, of course, still receive the actual folder. There is no additional cost associated with this option. THERE IS NO $4500 MARS COIN LURKING IN THIS COLLECTION! As of August 2024 there were a total of 77* coloured and commemorative $2 coins minted. Hence this collection is 11 coins shy of a full $2 collection. The coins NOT included in this 66 uncirculated set are :- 1. 2017 Mars Coin, as they sell for around $4500! 2. The five Tooth Fairy coins from 2020 to 2024. 3. The three Indigenous Infant coins from the 2022-2024 RAM Baby Coin sets. * The RAM also released a 2023 '50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War' $2 coin, and a 2023 Anniversary of Red Poppy coin. These were C mintmarked coins and were released encapsulated on cards. Collecting the C mintmarked coins is a fascinating way of extending your collection when you are ready. Most of the Anzac and the Remembrance Day coins were also released in C mint marked versions. There are also the 2018 and 2023 Anniversary of the Two dollar coin folders which can be added at a later date. NB:- Should you wish a full 77 coin $2 collection, I also have these listed on eBay. You can access this by pressing the 'see sellers other items' tab further down this page. I can also help if you already have some $2 coins and are interested in completing your collection. How many coins should be in a collection? Happily, for buyers there are now a wide range of $2 collections offered for sale, in a variety of formats. The question is, which one to buy and how many coins should there be in a collection? Whilst the final choice is a matter of personal preference, it is useful to know just how many $2 coins the RAM has released. 1. There are 67 coins which have been released into general circulation, either directly through the Royal Australian Mint, Woolworths or the Anaconda stores. 2. There are 75 coins if we now include the NCLT (Non-Circulating Legal Tender) coins. These are coins minted for the collector market, and include such things as the Indigenous Infant coins (from the RAM baby sets) and the five Tooth Fairy coins. 3. There are 77 coins if you now add in the C mintmark 2022 Red Poppy and the C mintmark 2023 Anniversary of the Vietnam War coin. In both instances there was no corresponding non-C-mint marked coin, and so this was the only way to obtain these designs. 4. There are a grand total of 122 coins If you include all of the C-mint marks, plus the 2018 30th Anniversary folder and the 2023 35th Anniversary folder. Please note that these are just numbers. A perfectly respectable coloured $2 coin collection might be just those with sport themes. Part of the fun of coin collecting is picking a theme and then gradually adding to it. All of our collections are, after all, works in progress. PS - please be careful ... there is another seller trying to imitate the peculiar yellow background from my 1970s kitchen! ... and another who has copied my item description. This is against eBay rules as it means they're advertising my coins and not theirs. Copyright: Pitau26 8/8/24. Last updated 11/10/2024.
