1st edition 1st printing The Connoisseur by Evan S. Connell Jr.! 1974 Nice Copy!

Description: Here is a wonderful copy of a little known title ( at least to me ) of a surprisingly great novel by Evan S. Connell, Jr. The Connoisseur. This is a first edition first printing as shown on the copyright page published by Knopf in 1974. Connell is best known for his classic Mrs. Bridge. This intriguing tale tells of just how easy it is to be drawn in by the beauty of art in any form be it books, sculpture, paintings or what have you. And how this love can quickly become a passion. Informative as it is entertaining, this title was such a pleasant surprise for me. The binding is square, tight, and the text is immaculate throughout. The beige cloth boards are spotless as is the spine and the royal blue lettering on the spine and front board are in excellent condition as shown. The spine ends show light “bumping” and all four corners of this copy are beautiful. The original orange top stain is still very evident on the upper page block. There is a slight production imperfection on the rear board spine area that doesn’t line up precisely but this is purely cosmetic. The dust jacket is complete and has the original price of $6.95 present on the front flap. This jacket has some wear with soiling and a sticker remnant on the front panel with a small closed tear at the top. The spine of the jacket has heavy wear at the top end only, and the rear panel has some marks along the lower edge. If this jacket isn’t too much of an issue, trust me you will want to add this copy to your shelves.
