Description: Original 1st Edition hand coloured Geological Map Renfrewshire Sheet 7, covering the Bridge of Weir, Houston, Kilmacolm, Linwood, Bishopton and Crosslee areas, on a scale of Six Inches to One Statute Mile. The map was geologically surveyed by the pioneers of the British Geological Survey, Robert Logan Jack and Sir Archibald Geikie, and published by in 1878 Sir Roderick Impey Murchison (Director General). Noteworthy historical/geological features shown on the map include the old coal and ironstone pits of Kaimhill, Gryffe Castle, Houston House, Duchall House and St. Fillans Church. The map is printed on linen backed parchment type paper and measures approximately 91cm x 61cm, with titles, notes and scale bar on the wide margins. The whole sheet measures approximately 95cm x 66cm and has been trimmed. The map is generally in good condition, although it has a crease along the middle and has a few small tears (see photos). It is ideal for framing and would be of interest to local historians/collectors. (Postage outwith the UK to be confirmed) Seller Ref: 335
