Dates approximately 1840/1870 No missing or replaced veneer.Veneered in superb figured rosewood to all sides. The box was originally a writing slope now converted to a jewellery document box.A really superb box in great restored condition. Dated to 1860 to the central cartouche to a 'Mys Hunt 30th Aug 1860 from her loving class' The class must have held her in high esteem to engrave this to the box. I've never seen 'from her loving class' on any box. She must have been a very respected lady. The box also retains its original makers label for 'Wedgwood & Sons 9 Cornhill London.Original inlaid solid brass keyhole escutcheon and central cartouche with brass stringing.FULLY LOCKS.
