This is the ONLY brochure for the U.S. market that exclusively covers this sporty new model from the Mercedes line-up. All other 190-class models for this year were covered in a separate brochure. The 190E 2.3-16 had a 4-valve per cylinder engine that was to compete with BMW’s recent introduction of their now-famous M3 from the BMW Motorsport division. The Mercedes was similarly equipped to AMG or Brabus aftermarket converted cars of those times which had gained quite a popularity during the early 1980s. The car, though only a 4-cylinder, had 167 hp and quite favorable performance numbers. It basically came fully equipped and only had a few options available to choose from. The only two-colors available were smoke silver metallic and black metallic. There was a manual or automatic transmission available at no extra charge. Other standard equipment included on the Limited Edition 190E 2.3-16 Sport Sedan: Individual seating in the rear Black leather interior Limited-slip differential Self-leveling suspension ABS, airbag There are many more unique items about this car, the catalog goes in much greater detail. There are large pictures and many diagrams. There is also a technical specification foldout with the numbers and standard equipment This 2.3-16 was only available for two years in the U.S. before being discontinued.
