Description: Note: Please study the images carefully to determine the condition of this vintage photograph, as it may not be in perfect condition. It may contain wrinkles, cracks, and possibly even tears due to its age and how it was handled before it got to us. A scanner may interpret colors and contrast differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person. This vintage photograph is offered for sale as a collectible item and conveys no transfer of copyright. 1985 Press Photo Spacehab middeck augmentation modules in shuttle payload bay This is an original press photo. The Spacehab middeck augmentation modules are 3 meter length (10 feet), 4 meter diameter (13 feet) pressurized truncated cylinders which fit into the Shuttle payload bay and connect to the crew compartment by an airlock and standard NASA Spacelab tunnel adapter. Spacehab modules fit aft of the forward bulkhead of the payload bay and take up no more than one quarter of the payload bay length. In addition to the Spacehab modules orbiters can carry three or four revenue producing satellites or other payloads in the rear three-quarters of the payload bay. Spacehab modules will significantly enhance the functional utility of the Space Transportation System as a national resource for a variety of applications, including middeck augmentation volume, expanded habitation volume, secure government and company proprietary R&D facility, Space Station testbed, and many others. Advanced versions of the Spacehab modules may be used by NASA for Space Station construction support, Space Station logistics support, and Space Station operations support. They may also be used as "Extended Duration Orbiter" crew habitats or can be configured to support the Space Station for crew transfer, emergency rescue, temporary visitor habitat, safe haven, infirmary, or as a satellite servicing module. Spacehab Inc. plans to build three Spacehab modules for use by NASA, the Department of Defense, and domestic and foreign commercial and government users. The first Spacehab module will be available for flight during the last quarter of 1987. Spacehab Inc. plans 5 module flights a year by 1900. Spacehab designs and builds devices meant to streamline payload space aboard space shuttle flights.Photo measures 10 x 8inches. Photo is dated 10-08-1985. Q: Do you combine shipping and invoices? A: Multiple photos won on the same seller ID combine automatically through the eBay checkout process. If you encounter problems with this, send us a message via eBay messaging and we will send you an invoice. Due to eBay limitations, we cannot combine items won on our different seller IDs for a single shipping charge. Q: How quickly do you ship the items once paid? A: We ship within one business day after your payment clears. If you do not receive an "order shipped" email from us by the close of the second business day from submitting payment, please e-mail us via eBay messaging. Q: How do you make sure my photograph arrives safely? A: We package each order between two cross-corrugated pieces of cardboard to ensure that the package is as difficult to bend as possible. We then wrap each order in a plastic sheet to help protect against moisture. We want you to rest assured that we take every precaution to ensure that the photograph you receive will be in the same condition in your care as it was in ours. Q: Will the "Historic Images" watermark be on my photo when I receive it? A: No. This is a digital watermark we use to protect our images. It is not printed on the photo. Q: What are your office hours? A: eBay for us is a business, and a very fun one to be in! We are open M-F 9 to 5 (CST). Therefore, we do not return e-mails and phone calls over the weekend. We observe the following holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Q: Where did all these vintage photos come from? A: These original vintage photographs are from various news service and newspaper photo archives from locations around the country including: Boston, Detroit, Tampa, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Portland, Spokane, and more. We do not copy or reproduce any photographs -- every item is a unique vintage piece that was housed in a news archive. Q: Can I use this photograph in my book/blog/website? A: The short answer is no. There is no transfer of copyright for republication or reproduction with these photographs when you purchase them, and only photographs taken before 1923 are currently automatically in the public domain. Permission from the copyright holder, which usually can be identified from the back of each photo, must be sought to republish or reproduce the image for any purpose. Q: Do you relist items (in case I miss an auction ending)? A: Auction items that receive no bids are relisted in our store (historicimages-store on eBay) as a fixed-price item and at a higher price than the starting auction price. Q: Do you leave feedback? A: Yes, we always leave feedback for buyers. Our software monitors when our buyers leave us feedback, then notifies us that we can leave feedback for the buyer. Rest assured, if you leave feedback, we will do the same!
