This is an original press photo. Coinciding with annual energy month sponsored by 20-nation International Energy Agency is the end of trial runs at an unusual new Georgia-Pacific Corp. ammonia plant. This Plaquemine, Louisiana facility totally eliminates natural gas as traditional source of hydrogen, nitrogen and process heat. By-product nitrogen from a nearby plant is "fuel" for cryogenic (extreme low temperature) process replacing old heat process. Nitrogen also is a feedstock along with by-product hydrogen from nearby G-P clorine and methanol plants. Workman (circle) is dwarfed by huge cryogenic tank behind him.
