Taylor Spink and Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis. Spink continued to publish his guide, competing with the Commissioner's Guide (1943 Baseball) and Official Baseball. In 1947, after Landis's death, the Sporting News Guide regained the "official" tag and was the sole and undisputed almanac for professional baseball statistics for four decades.
