Merrimac, Wis. From early April until late November or early December, travelers on Wisconsin's Hwy. 113 cross the mile of the Wisconsin River that separates Merrimac from Okee by ferry. Exact dates depend on the ice situation. This ferry service is a long-time thing, provided ever dine 1844. Originally the ferry was privately owned; later it was taken over by the two countries involved, Columbia and Sauk, and in 1933 was taken over by the state.Photo measures 10 x 8inches.
