This recent aerial picture of United States (U.S.) Steel's new Texas Works near Baytown shows the giant complex almost completed. ON the left are the 160-inch plate mill and auxiliary facilities that cover some 24 acres under roof and the main rail receiving yards. The complex of extensive water control facilities is in the center of the picture. On the extreme right are the buildings that will house two electric steel-making furnaces, a continuous slab caster and vacuum degassing equipment. The latter units are part of the second phase of construction of the new steel plant, which is scheduled to go on stream this summer with a work force of about 600. The nation's largest steel company, U.S. Steel will hold its annual meeting here Monday. The nation's largest steel producer has 6500 stockholders in Texas. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
