Please read these additional details, but if you have any other questions before making your purchase decision, feel free to contact me.The main basis for this replica manual is a H1 Rider's Handbook that has a grey cover and which has a "forward" section which is clearly dated 1970, but parts of other grey cover handbooks were also used as a basis for this reproduction because I did not have a single copy that was really in the condition I wanted and/or with all its pages. The nomenclature on its back cover includes part nos. "99995-314-01" and "RH71-U." I'm just an amateur at this but what I have learned is that Kawasaki actually published SEVERAL different versions, reprints, and/or editions of the early H1 Rider's Handbooks various reasons. As a result, there may be VERY minor differences between this grey cover rider's handbook and other rider's handbooks with grey or "greyish" color covers. For example, other grey cover handbooks I examined had covers with a slightly different shade of grey; they did not have a forward section dated 1970; and did not have "99995-314-01" on the back cover - they just have "RH70-U" printed on the back. However, all the grey cover handbooks are very similar in all other respects - including the fact that Kawasaki repeatedly made some formatting and typographical errors - and corrections thereto. Due to the nomenclature on the back cover of the original handbook used for this reproduction, it was probably printed for issuance with a 1971 H1A. However, this handbook is also clearly correct for the 1970 H1 because its forward section is dated 1970 and its identical to all the other grey rider's handbooks (the 1970 H1 and 1971 H1A were both issued with grey cover rider's handbooks). This book only addresses the CDI model bikes as there is no mention of ignition points in this book. Please see my other items for sale if you have a points model H1 because I also sell the rider's handbooks for those bikes. Please keep in mind, this is not a cheap, low-quality photocopy that was made from a low-resolution "PDF." This handbook has been professionally reproduced to match every detail of the original, to include the size (approx. 4.5" X 7.25"), grade, and color, of the paper it's printed on. In that regard we did the best we could, but I cannot say the color and texture of the cover is an exact match (see photo on auction). The most challenging part of the reproduction process is related to matching the color and texture of the cover. After extensive research into paper stocks it was concluded that an exact match of the cover color and texture was not possible. But unlike the dull, faded, stained, and/or worn covers we are all used to on our original manuals, the cover on this replica is brand new, a close match, and very durable. With regard to the cover a thick, smooth, and durable paper was used instead of the thin, porous "construction-paper" like cover of the original that was prone to wear, ripping, and soaking up oil! This reproduction's cover is durable and can even be wiped clean if something spills on it. All the artwork (photos, graphics, typeset) and paper stock for the interior pages have been painstakingly reproduced - and all flaws have been removed from the pages. This replica has no crooked pages; no signs of rips or tears; no fingerprints; no oil and grease marks; no handwriting; no smudged or obscured printing, etc... When comparing this replica to an original one thing you will notice is that the original will look old, worn, and/or faded and this replica looks like a brand new handbook. For example, the size and placing of the staples holding the book together have even been carefully matched! The interior pages are smooth, glossy, and bright white just like the originals, and they feature crisp black print and vintage black and white photographs. For the discriminating triples collector one should note that this grey cover handbook is very similar in content to the 1969 H1 model rider's handbook (red cover). In that regard I noticed that the original 1969 H1 handbook with a red cover has several formatting and typographical errors in it and that is probably why Kawasaki printed the grey cover editions. Several of the errors in the red cover book were corrected in the grey cover handbook, but not all of them. For example, item #5 in the table of contents is "Parking" and it's referenced on page 11. The topic is labeled as such and discussed on page 11 in this grey cover handbook. But not so in the original 1969 red cover handbook because Kawasaki forgot to provide the #5 and "Parking" topic label at the beginning of the parking discussion on page 11 in it. One error I believe Kawasaki failed to correct in many grey cover handbooks is that on page 4 the word "vehicles" is spelled "cehicles." I decided to correct that error in the latest batch of these reproductions I had printed (December 2012) because a few people contacted me about typographical errors after their purchase.
