Description: DESCRIPTION: This auction is for a (1) working Door Lock ACTUATOR. It appears to be GM Part #8790968, which is a RH (Passenger Door) lock actuator for 2-Door Cars ONLY (This will not fit Skylark/Chevelle/LeMans/Cutlass 4 door models). There is an "R" stamped on it as well, which usually means "Right" door.....however GM sometimes had "B" body cars with stamped "R" actuators that were used in the Driver "Left" Door. So be sure that you are buying the right part by visually confirming it first. Likely it's a Passenger Door part though. (Note: The Driver Door Actuator part is #8790969). I looked up the part #8790968 in the original 1970's Master Parts books for all of the divisions and have entered the cross reference compatibility in the the listing. While it does fit all "A" body 2 doors, there were also usage references for early F-Body cars --Camaros/Firebirds (1970-75??) -- and the El Camino (1970-75?). Again, check the visuals before buying. Actuators are a fully non-repairable item when yours goes bad...you have to throw away the old one and replace it with another. Pretty simple to do, actually. If your lock pull doesn't go up and down, then likely the lock actuator has seized internally, either from moisture issues or electrical malfunction. IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS WILL NOT WORK IN ANY 4-DOOR MODELS. ITEM CONDITION: This actuator in great visual & working condition for being 53+ years old. I've had it stored for about 20 years, so it's time for it to find a new home. It has very strong Push/Pull when activated -- check out the Video. Ready to bolt in and use. Rust free body. The lower rubber boot/cap is in excellent condition - the upper boot does have some cracking around the flex points. It would be a good ideal to sleeve the actuator or seal those cracks when installing. Included is the original actuator rod - actually 2 of them, apparently the LH and RH sides used the same rod. The Video & Pictures show the lock plunger in the UP and DOWN positions, to assure you that this is not a seized unit. Fully bench tested and it passed with flying colors. I haven't seen one of these listed online in ages, so don't snooze and lose on this hard to find part. I'd recommend that you grease up your window rails and lubricate the lock mechanism at the same time that you replace this actuator.
