Description: This is a factory original AM FM STEREO radio that was removed from a 1972 Chevelle. This style radio was used in 70-72 Chevelle, 70-72 El Camino, 70-72 Monte Carlo, 70-75 Camaro, 70-76 Nova, and 70-72 Impala, and 70-72 GMC Sprint. Don't miss this very nice example. Do not confuse this radio with the more common AM FM mono radio that was available in the same cars. The mono radios have one audio channel. This stereo model has 4 separate audio channels and was a much more expensive option than the mono radio and is much more rare. This radio can be quickly identified as a stereo model with the orange/yellow stereo indicator lamp in the upper right rand side of the dial. This illuminates when a strong FM stereo signal is tuned in. These true factory stereo radios are quite rare and hard to find. This factory AM FM Stereo radio in in good cosmetic condition as shown. It appears to be completely original and I left it that way. With some detailing, it will look even better. The faceplate is in good shape with the AM FM slide bar intact. The lens is clean, clear, and easy to read. All pushbuttons and dials work as they should. The AM FM flip dial fully flips from the AM to the FM position. The knobs are the 71-up style and look nice. I have the outer tuner and volume knobs swapped in the photos(ooops) and they simply slid into position. The case of the radio is very clean with no breaks, modifications, and light surface corrosion. This radio has been tested and plays loud and clear on both AM and FM bands with very good reception on all 4 audio channels. The orange stereo indicator lamp in the upper right hand corner of the radio lights up when a strong FM signal is tuned in. Since this radio is over 50 years old, it would be a good idea to have it serviced before installing in a car to ensure trouble free use. I made a video of this radio being tested.
