Description: 1968 Democratic Convention Chicago Schaller's Pump Drink Stirrers (Set of 2) Offered are a set of two (2) drink stirs from the legendary Schaller's Pump restaurant and bar, 3714 S. Halsted during the infamous 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. These green drink stirs were from Schaller's Original Pump during the 1968 Democratic Convention, which was held about a mile south of Schaller's at Chicago's International Amphitheatre, adjacent to the Union Stockyards. Note the donkey atop the drink stir, representing the Democratic Party (see photos). One side of the stir reads The Original Pump Restaurant and the other side reads 3714 S. Halsted VI 7 - 9378 . These were personally obtained by my father, who worked in the Union Stockyards and was a regular at Schaller's Pump for many years. Schaller's Original Pump, recently closed, was the oldest tavern in Chicago, dating back to 1881. It was located across Halsted Street from the 11th Ward Chicago Democratic Headquarters and was a well known favorite local hangout for all walks of Chicago life. Very cool Chicago and U.S. political historical items! Will ship to US addresses via USPS
