Description: 1965 Winston Churchill Crown. Most people remember Winston Churchill as the Prime Minster of Great Britain during WW 2. He served in that capacity until 1955 when he was forced to retire for health reasons. A man of tremendous talents, he received the Nobel Prize in literature in 1953. So loved in America, Congress conferred on him honorary American citizenship in 1963. During his public service in Great Britain he served under six different monarchs. He died in 1965 at the age of 90 and in his honor, this copper-nickel crown was issued. It was the first time in over 300 years that a commoner had appeared on an English coin. 1965 Winston Churchill Crown Commemorative Collectible
