Description: 1965 Press Photo Soldiers hug the ground for protection from Viet Cong sniper. This is an original press photo. Men of the U.S. First Cavalry hug the ground for protection from sniper fire after being delivered by helicopter to a position south of the outpost at Plei Me, which has been under siege by Viet Cong. The cavalrymen met no Viet Cong resistance as they fanned southward from the post, north of Saigon. The area in which they are operating had been cleared by post defenders for firing lanes against possible attack. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 10-28-1965.
