His initials can be found on the bottom of Kennedy's neck. The reverse (back) side of coat of arms motif is the work of Frank Gasparro, who was appointed chief engraver in February of 1965. A few pieces dated 1971 D and 1977 D were struck in silver clad by error. Coins Struck in 1964: net weight .36169 oz. pure silver. (90%) Coins Struck in 1965-1970: net weight .1479 oz pure silver.
