The #2 Foyt car was Chassis #3 of 5 built and it experienced mechanic problems during qualifying and had to start in 62 nd position. Foyt put on a great show by passing 50 cars in the first lap. They ran in the top 10 for nine hours and ran as high as 8th. A lost wheel and a pit accident doomed the car to 27th place and 3rd in class to the Penske / Hall Grand Sport.
