Description: This is a Vintage; I guess at 62 years old I can call a recorder Vintage; made in 1963 this Magnecord Model 1024HF is a 2-track recorder with quarter track stereo heads. It takes up to 7” reels and operates at 3.75 and 7.5 ips. This recorder is beautifully crafted, both inside and out. The electronics and transport are two separate units and each comes in its own shipping case. This tape deck is in excellent operating condition. I have found two issues with it. 1. The play level is a little low on track #2 and occasionally it does not go into play and you have to lightly touch the pinch roller and it engages. I tried to give you a little demo, I played music back from YouTube; we hear the source in, then playback during record, then I rewind it and play the recording back. Playback was a cord from the headphone jack to a guitar amp and then picked up by the iPhone’s mic. It sounded much better through headphones. I am including a copy of the operation/service manual, on DVD, also the rubber reel hold downs. Other than that, what you see is what you get and that does not count the reels or the tape. The transport weighs 33lbs and the electronics weigh 14lbs and that is not counting the cases, so that is why the shipping is so high. This is a classic deck in really nice condition.
