Description: Here's the Rare and Beautiful 1962 North Carolina State Capital---Raleigh Design Artist's Proof by H. Alvin Sharpe. The Artist's Proof measures 13 1/2" in width and height and is in Excellent Condition. Payment due within 48 hours of purchase. Note: This is the Original Artist's Proof for the Design for a Medallion Created by H. Alvin Sharpe, the Creator of the Mardi Gras Doubloon. This design was created for Special Medallions made by Mr. Sharpe for Capitol Medals who issued a Group of Medallions featuring the State Capitals of all the States of the United States. This Artist's Proof does not contain Mr. Sharpe's familiar "HAS" initials (usually added only after the design is complete), and I suspect that all of these medallions were created without his initials. The Design appears to be complete. Mr. Sharpe kept many of the Artist Proofs he made over the years and gave a number of them to his last secretary. She ultimately sold them to a coin dealer in New Orleans from whom I acquired them a few years ago. I have far too many to keep, though I love them all, and now want to share them with other H.
