Description: American Export Line: The mid-century modern interiors of famed designer Henry Dreyfuss are in full view in this twelve-page brochure for the EXETER and EXCALIBUR. When introduced in 1948, American Export's quartet of new ships were known as "The FOUR ACES", but by the time this brochure was printed in 1961 just two ACES remained. Large color photos show the Cocktail Lounge, Dining Room, Lounge, swimming pool, a buffet, and two different suites. Color-coded and very detailed plans show three decks. American Export's "Verandah Cabins", so popular on the pre-war FOUR ACES, are reduced to just a handful because the ships were now fully air conditioned. In 1964 the company sold the two ships to Orient Overseas where they sailed as the ORIENTAL PEARL and ORIENTAL JADE before being scrapped in 1974. One of the other sisters survived until recently when she was sunk off the Texas coast as a marine sanctuary. Very good condition.
