Excellent corners Nicely centered Clean back Vintage ‘59 Burdette was an outstanding pitcher and deserves more credit than he received. Yes, he was a three time All Star, won an ERA title and pitched in the World Series in two different years. But the stat that sparkles like a diamond to me, was his World Series record in ‘57, when the Braves beat the Yankees in seven games. Burdette pitched 3 complete games in the series, including two shutouts and winning all three games. He was, of course, given the MVP award for the series which, to me, stands out as one of the more dominate performances in World Series history.
