X-15 pilot will wear this space suit - A "human factors dummy" models the aluminized coverall space suit to be worn by the men who will fly the X-15 rocket ship in its exploration of the fringes of space. The dummy is seated in an X-15 pilot's seat which comes equipped with stabilizing fins to protect the pilot in the event of ejection at supersonic speeds. The space suit is resistant to extremes of heat and cold and is pressurized to keep the pilot from exploding should there be loss of pressure through an accident in flight.
