Description: This is a 1959 (Philadelphia) Jefferson Nickel "Black Beauty" Improperly Annealed Planchet in Uncirculated Condition. The "Black Beauty" term was used in the past referring the improper annealing process causing the coin to look "black" or very dark. They were discovered looking at 1958 and 1959 Jefferson nickels and became popular back in the day. ANACS still uses the term which they may own the rights to it, but other TPG's may refer to them as "Mis-Annealed" or "Improper Annealed Planchets". The coin essentially looks like a dark toned coin, but dipping or cleaning will not remove the color.
