Description: From the private collection of Sound Investments USA LLC 1958 53 Goldtop Les Paul electric guitar sn. 8 3078Only 434 Les Paul Standards were shipped in 1958 It has a 1958 Gibson factory installed neck (put on in 1958) on a 1953 Les Paul Goldtop. If you own a $400,000.00 58 Les Paul that needs a 1958 original neck, then this guitar is for you! I have priced it for just that. I will consider reasonable best offers.Ok here is the history of this guitar as told by the original owner. I am the second owner and While I had it examined by the experts it has never left our location.Original owner was a gentleman named Larry (717) 552-6xxx. I have not spoken to him since I bought it. I will include the rest of his number in the case for the buyer. I bought this in 2006 from him. He was the original owner. His dad bought it from a store in Chambersburg PA in 1959 a year after the neck replacement from Gibson. The music store owner claimed the 1953 Goldtop took a fall and the neck broke, so he sent it back to Gibson for a neck replacement in 1958. Thus the 1958 serial number. Larry the original owner of this Les Paul was taking lessons at this music store when he was 13 years old. The music store later went out of business. The truck pulled in one day in 1958 from Gibson with this repaired Goldtop guitar and 2 sunbursts! His dad bought this one for him as it was cheaper. Bad decision, eh?Larry stopped using it in 1962, put it away until January 2006 when I bought it from him. The BodyWhen you pull the neck pickup out and look in the neck pocket you can see the end of the neck (The tenon). It is a natural finish where it would have been gold if it was original to the guitar I was told. The authorized dealer and quality of the workmanship coupled with the checking being even on the neck and body show this was a factory neck replacement as I was told so it backs up the story.
