Description: Book Description: Charles Berg, M.D. and Clifford Allen, M.D., The Problem of Homosexuality. New York: The Citadel Press, 1958, 221 pages. Probable First Edition. 6” x 8 ½”. Original Dust jacket with price intact protected in Mylar. Tight binding and clean pages throughout. Over-all a very good to near fine copy. The authors, two psychiatrists, deal with a very harsh and controversial attitude towards homosexuality, alth9ugh one that apparently prevailed in the late 1950s. As the dust jacket elaborates, the authors stress that homosexuality is a form which the sexual drive has taken to express itself and therefore should be subject to modification and alteration. “Social implications of homosexuality and its relation to crime, suicide, alcoholism, insanity, and prostitution are explained. Finally, the prevention and treatment of homosexuality are discussed, accompanied with illustrations from case histories which buttress the authors claims that it is a curable condition.”
