Description: 1957 Topps Sandy Koufax # 302 Brooklyn Dodgers PSA 5 Certification # 90419004 Very tough 1957 Topps mid-series third-year card of the Hall of Fame pitcher. This example appears strong for the grade, with near-perfect centering and light touches of wear to the corners. Sandy Koufax never played in the Minors. He signed as a "Bonus Baby", something which required immediate assignment to the Brooklyn Dodgers. Koufax was one very extraordinary pitcher! In 1963 Sandy won both the Cy Young award and the MVP award. For five consecutive seasons, Koufax won the Lowest ERA Award - 1962 through 1966 (which was the year that he retired from Baseball!). He pitched four no-hit games, struck out more batters than innings pitched, had 40 shutouts, and completed an astounding 137 games that he had started!!! He won the Cy Young Award in his two last seasons - 1965 and 1966. Interestingly enough, Koufax completed more than half of ALL the games he had pitched (137 complete games out of the 252 games he pitched). Thank you for your interest!
