"Popcorn" Card #174 - CHARLIE RABE ~ 1957 Seattle Rainiers from scarce collector-issued set by Ed Broder Little is known about this card and the set it comes from except that the card pictures a Pacific Coast League player from 1957 or '58 and was produced in the 1974 by collector and photography enthusiast Ed Broder. It is similar to (and probably inspired by) the popular Seattle popcorn cards issued 1954-68. The card measures approximately 2" by 3" and features a borderless (often mis-cut) black and white photograph on the front with player name, team, card number and set identification (P.C.L. "Popcorn" Cards) on the reverse. There are no statistics and no manufacturer's copyright. The card stock is thin but reasonably sturdy. This card represents one of the only Pacific Coast League cards for many players featured in the 1957-1958 Popcorn set, is an interesting item for longtime followers of the old PCL and quite tough to find for a collector's issue. Look closely for familiar parts of long-departed ballyards.
