After being traded to the Yankees in 1959, Lopez played mainly in the Yankees outfield with Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle. He was a member of five World Series teams, winning in 1961 and 1962 with the Yankees. After his playing career ended, Lopez became the first black manager at the Triple-A level in the minor leagues. Hector Lopez retired with a .269 batting average, 136 home runs and 591 RBI.
