Description: Straight from an architect's office, this 1955 Pratt & Lambert advertising and salesman's sample box is 6" by 5" by 3" tall. The top is partially sun faded. The other part of the top is not faded apparently protected by pieces of paper covering that portion. The box has a pebble grain fabric like finish on the outside. There is some edge wear presumably from many trips to the construction site in the architect's briefcase. The 21 wooden sample panels of wood are slightly smaller than the box. Each shade panel carries with it a very detailed description of the stain, varnish and shellac mix used to create the shade presumably for accurate reproduction to ensure customer satisfaction (despite the disclaimer in red print warning about different shades due to differing grains in the wood to which the finish is to be applied). The sample wooden panels all look to be in good shape. This item was found in Savannah Georgia. The Pratt & Lambert "Paint and Varnish Makers" and the company logo are printed on the top of the box.The company locations being New York, Chicago, Buffalo and Fort Erie ON are listed there as well. See my other paint and finish company brochure listings. Combined shipping available. Thanks for looking.
