For your consideration is an exceedingly rare and historically important original antique c.1954 British Royal Yacht Britannia hand-embroidered genuine gold and silver bullion patch set, featuring the royal ciper ERII for H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. Royal Yacht Britannia patch set includes primary Elizabeth II official issue royal yacht breast patch, featuring a poppy blossom with a royal navy coat of arms at center with intersecting anchors. Masterfully crafted. Genuine gold and silver bullion breast patches measure approximately 2.25" x 4.75". The shoulder patch measures approximately 4.5" x 2 0". Cap tally ribbon 11.5" x 1.25" respectively. The breast patch is said to have belonged to Vice Admiral Sir Conolly Abel Smith, 28 April 1954 30 January 1958. All original. Condition is fine. Museum quality. Authentic and correct. Crew members' shoulder sleeve cloth bullion insignia. Cloth badge with the title Royal Yacht in gold bullion with EIIR padded crown mounted above, on a black felt background. Royal Navy Elizabeth II Royal Yacht Britannia Cap Tally. A very good full-length example of the simulated silk and bullion Ratings cap tally worn by crew members of Queen Elizabeths Royal Yacht Britannia. Her Majesty's Yacht Britannia is the former royal yacht of the British monarchy. She was in their service from 1954 until 1997. She was the 83rd such vessel since King Charles II acceded to the throne in 1660, and is the second royal yacht to bear the name, the first being the racing cutter built for the Prince of Wales in 1893. During her 43-year career, the yacht traveled more than a million nautical miles around the world to more than 600 ports in 135 countries. Now retired from royal service, Britannia is permanently berthed at Ocean Terminal, Leith in Edinburgh, Scotland, where it is a visitor attraction with over 300,000 visits each year.
