Print of German artist Carlo Demand's gouache painting of Guatemalan Jose Herrarte in the class-winning Porsche 550 Spyder, one of only two cars in the small sports car class that managed to finish out of 14 that started. Close behind is Juan Manuel Fangio of Argentina in a works Lancia that won the large sports car class. Carlo Demand was an accomplished German artist and prolific illustrator. Motorsports artists as accomplished as Peter Helck were impressed by Demand's skill. Helck wrote about Demand: "...the very best of these works are beyond my skills. There are a dozen in the [print] set which amaze me and I believe [one of them] to be just about the finest racing bit of art I have ever seen." As published in the book, Carlo Demand: In Motion and Color. Print is rendered on an acid-free bright white book stock. Printed back. Print is in excellent condition.
