Description: This listing is for the Schwinn klunker bicycle as shown. It is based on a 1952 (11/5/1952) Schwinn DX model frame and fork and represents what the state of klunking was in 1977-78. It’s the last iteration before cantilever brakes took over . The frame is standard 18” ( medium ) and would fit riders 5’2- to 5’10” depending on leg length. The wheels are Union drums and have great stopping power even today. The rims are period Araya and spokes are modern stainless steel. Tires are CST Brethren a good all-around tread in size 26x2.25 . Drive train is TA cranks and sprockets (30-44t with 170mm arms) Bottom bracket is modern YST sealed conversion with period KKT pedals. Derailleurs are Shimano as are shifters ( slightly later versions that I like better than period suntour) . Seatpost is Schwinn Exercycle ,with Gyes leather saddle that’s waterproof and comfy. Bars are Wald 28” and stem is Evil Ed with ringed leather grips. The cables are all new Teflon lined with stainless wires I’ve built many klunkers and this one represents all that knowledge and experience, it’s simple strong and unstoppable snd should last for years and years of use. I’ve test ridden it and it rides fantastic, straight and easy pedaling, very easy to get comfortable on. Save yourself the trouble of assembling all the parts and the attendant building headaches. Payment to include $185 shipping in USA with very careful boxing/packing.
